A path to greater insight, making connections through customers and Konica Minolta

On the 14th and 15th June, Konica Minolta Laboratory Europe kick-started the Innovation Customer Advisory Board (ICAB) in our Rome lab. This initiative aims to engage customers and other interested stakeholders from all over Europe that are either adopting, evaluating or simply expressing an interest into IT Digital Services and associated new technologies, including the Internet of things, Artificial Intelligence, and Business and Data analytics .

The ICAB will gather fresh ideas that support and improve the technological maturity and market readiness of cutting-edge solutions developed by Konica Minolta. Together with the KMLE Insights Platform, the ICAB will explore business use cases and design solutions that connect to the true user-need. The initiative will also provide a forum for evaluation of concepts and prototypes from our R&D teams.

“The Innovation Customer Advisory Board is the answer that we have found as part of the global R&D organisation,” says Dennis Curry, Executive Director and Deputy CTO at Konica Minolta. “With this initiative, we tailor innovation to the needs of our customers and we work closely with our business partners together focusing on Digital Workplaces.”

During the two days the Board members were introduced to KMLE’s research activities and projects as well as where the ICAB fits into the bigger picture of Konica Minolta’s Global R&D strategy and vision. In the next steps, board members now have the chance to decide where they will actively contribute, in the phases of insight generation and use-case definition, or in the evaluation process, or both. In addition, the learnings derived from this first event will be fed-back to improve the collaboration between the ICAB and Konica Minolta. One valuable input was to consider how the Innovation Customer Advisory Board could evolve into a more dynamic collaboration that could allow access to the Board member’s wider network for evaluation of concepts and prototypes.

We are grateful to all the participants who spent their time with us during the kick-off event and we highly value their suggestions to help the ICAB evolve and improve. The next meeting of the Innovation Customer Advisory Board will be held in the autumn, and if you are interested in becoming a Board member we would very much like you to contact us.
